  • Sydney R.

"As someone who is inexperienced I needed a riding experience that was easy and simple and Serial 1 fit that for me. My RUSH/CTY STEP-THRU has an auto-shifting hub so I never had to worry about switching gears while biking. This feature alone was a game-changer for someone like me.”

  • Aaron F.

"For the first few months that I regularly rode our RUSH/CTY SPEED, I rode everywhere in Boost mode, without exception. I might as well have removed the rocker switch from the handlebar controller, as I never once thumbed down to a lower pedal-assist mode. The power and speed were absolutely intoxicating."

  • Daniel Z.

"Never experienced true power like I did with the RUSH/ CTY SPEED. Once I hit the top speed on the bike, I knew I had found the electric bike for me. A side from the power, the design and the attention to detail on each bike is spectacular and impeccable."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes?

The "Class" system determines where you can legally ride and how the motor behaves:

Class 1: Pedal-assist only (no throttle). The motor stops helping once you hit 20 mph.

Class 2: Has a throttle (you can move without pedaling). Like Class 1, the motor stops at 20 mph.

Class 3: Pedal-assist only (usually), but the motor helps you reach up to 28 mph. These are often restricted from certain bike paths due to their speed.

How far can I actually go on a single charge?

While manufacturers often claim "up to 60 miles," real-world range depends on the "Triple W":

Weight: How much the rider and gear weigh.

Watt-hours: The size of the battery (e.g., a 500 Wh battery usually gets 25–40 miles).

Work: How much effort you put in versus how much you rely on the motor (using "Eco" mode vs. "Turbo" mode).

Do I need a license or insurance to ride one?

In most of the U.S., e-bikes are legally treated like traditional bicycles, meaning:

No license or registration is required for Class 1–3 bikes.

No insurance is mandatory.

Note: If the bike has a motor larger than 750W or can exceed 28 mph on motor power alone, it may be classified as a moped or motorcycle, which does require a license.

Are e-bikes waterproof, and can I ride them in the rain?

Most e-bikes are water-resistant (IPX4 or IPX5 rating), not waterproof.

Safe: Riding through light to moderate rain or over damp pavement.

Unsafe: Submerging the motor/battery in deep puddles or using a high-pressure power washer to clean the bike.

Pro Tip: Always dry the battery contact points with a towel if they get wet.
